After arriving at what is now Alberta the force of three hundred men soon quelled the

whiskey trade and established posts across the west.

   When the Riel Rebellion broke out in 1885, Under the leadership of Louis Riel and his lieutenant Gabriel Dumont, the NWMP assisted the militia in putting a stop to the Metis revolt

 

 

in 1895 the force moved north to the Yukon to bring law and order to the goldrush
